Respected sir,i m student of rit college of engg, sangli for sy mtech working on project in foundry.how lean management can be applicable and How to get 100% yield from casting.

first you go through industry find out defects comes in casting then find out root causes for that u use lean tools through that u reduce defects up to zero percent then u can get 100% yield

Practically, achieving 100% casting yield is very difficult , but by optimizing gating system components using Casting simulation Software like AutoCAST ,you can minimize the volume of gating system & risers , hence you can get the higher yield for given casting.

to get 100 % yield is practically impossible, you can increase yield percentage by doing number of iteration of casting simulation for defect free casting...

You first understand Yield is ratio of casting volume to entire shot volume.A 100% yield casting will have no Runner or Feeders...so a 65% to 80% yield casting is best you can make in current scenario.

First of all understand, what is Yield? Yield is ratio of rough weight by gross weight. Rough wt. means casting finished/actual wt. +machining wt. .Gross wt. is rough wt. + riser wt. +gating wt. etc. So to achieve 100 % yield means Casting without riser and gating system, which is practically impossible. |
